You’ve gotten this far, it makes sense to find out more about us.
‘The year is 2016’. Even though it has been almost 15 years since the iPod was released, unimaginative entrepreneurs across the UK still thought it was cool to put an ‘I’ In front of their business name. Meanwhile, two health and safety practitioners (Jack and Tim Marshall), decide that after many years of study and working as HSE professionals, they want to try their hands at setting up a consultancy. The combination of these two factors resulted in iSAFE being established.
When iSAFE was established, we recognised that in general, health and safety practitioners, how do I put this politely … have an image problem!
People think we are expensive, legislation quoting, jobsworth types, who stop people from doing their jobs. So, we aimed to challenge people perceptions of what a health and safety consultant is, by establishing our main core value that all of the iSAFE team must follow:

One thing about us is that iSAFE’s consultants won’t turn up with a clipboard, spouting legislation, whilst trying to put the fear of god into you. We also won’t leave you with a big invoice and a hat full of problems to solve for yourself.
The iSAFE team, pride ourselves on being more approachable than the average health and safety company. We really get to know your business and staff, take the time to learn what you do and how you do it, before providing innovative, practical solutions to your safety issues, which we will help you implement.
Rather than telling you, you can’t do something, we offer a solution for doing it in a safer way that doesn’t break any laws or the bank.
Ultimately, our main core value is there to facilitate our primary goal. To help as many businesses as possible to meet their health and safety legal requirements, whilst reducing the number of accidents within those businesses.
So far, we are achieving this goal and iSAFE has helped (and continues to help) organisations across the UK meet their health and safety requirements.

We offer a free initial consultation to all companies who are considering iSAFE’s services. We use the initial consultation to identify the specific requirements of your business. In order to do this properly, we may simply just have a chat, request a selection of your core documents or visit your place of work, to make sure we know exactly what you need from us to make your health and safety great. However, we do the initial consultation, you will receive no-obligation health and safety advice and guidance which you can apply to your business, whether you use us or not. So, what have you got to lose?
We are able to help you sort out the issues the HSE have found, provide advice on HSE investigations and we are happy to communicate with the HSE on your behalf. We can also put measures in place to correct further health and safety issues that may be flagged up in future HSE visits.
The management health and safety at work regulations state that all businesses need to have access to a competent source of health and safety advice.
Competency is the combination of formal training and experience. So as long as you have some formal training in health and safety and have sufficient experience in applying that training to your health and safety management system, you meet this requirement.
That means that your competent source of health and safety advice could be somebody within your business or an external person like a member of the team at iSAFE.
The extent of training and experience depends on what you are doing as a business. If you are in a low-risk office environment you do not have to be as competent as the health and safety manager of a nuclear power station. The team at iSAFE all hold (or are working towards) degree-level qualifications in health and safety management and have tonnes of experience in pretty much every industrial sector. So if you are concerned you are not meeting your requirements, a member of your team will definitely be able to help you.

Pretty much everything we do is bespoke to our client’s individual needs and requirements. Because our services aren’t generic, our prices aren’t either, We will give you a free initial consultation and a no-obligation quote if you get in touch.
No business is exempt from health and safety laws regardless of size. There is a common misconception that if you have less than 5 employees you don’t have to have policies, risk assessments ect, which is not the case. The law says, you don’t have to write them down but you still have to have them. The catch is that if they are not written down how do you prove you have them if something goes wrong? Bit of a chicken and egg situation here.
There are other reasons such as client and accreditation requirements which will require you to submit documentation. Ultimately, it’s always best to get your health and safety right as early as possible so it can grow with your business. We are happy to help you to get your documentation right. Our services are flexible and bespoke to your business, so whether you’re a small or large business we can help you.
Most of our services level agreements have a one-month cancellation period which can be initiated by either you or us. This is to make sure there is a smooth transition from us to another competent source of safety advice so that you remain in compliance.
For some services, you will have to sign up for 12 months. This is usually where we have to do quite a bit of work upfront or if we help you spread the cost of one of our services. We will let you know at the point of quotation what your specific contract entails and the duration of any contract.
