Better iSafe than sorry.
iSAFE is one of the top health and safety consultants in the UK, offering comprehensive solutions to businesses across various sectors. We yap on about workplace safety in heavy northern accents — but fortunately, people do still listen to us.
As trusted experts in the field, iSAFE provides invaluable guidance and support to ensure that organisations meet their health and safety obligations effectively. For a recent example of this, check out the work we’ve been doing for Bathroom Mountain:
What did we provide?
Dedicated CDM manager – From the moment we engaged with Tile Mountain, we installed a continual site presence to manage CDM compliance on the project. Duties include:
-
- Vetting of subcontractors (basically making sure contractors have the right paperwork and are competent to complete the tasks):
- Checking insurance
- Reviewing RAMS
- Checking competencies
- Checking equipment records
- Chairing daily coordination meetings
- Issuing permits and monitoring compliance to those permits
- Inspections and audits
- Vetting of subcontractors (basically making sure contractors have the right paperwork and are competent to complete the tasks):
- Investigate and correct safety issues.
CDM managers are heavily vetted prior to being put on a project (no agency labour!). We hold a two-stage interview process, to ensure that managers don’t just have the qualifications but have the right personality and core values to work under the iSAFE banner.
Induction – We produced a video induction specifically for the project. This covered all of the site-specific hazards and arrangements. The benefits of the video induction include:
-
- Uniform delivery of safety critical information
- Flexibility in delivery of induction (you don’t have to wait for a competent person to be available to deliver the induction)
- Improved efficiency to get people through the induction and verified, so they can jump on the project
- Subtitled for non-English speakers
Continual site presence – Contractors selfishly get ill or take holidays from time to time. iSAFE ensure members of the core team are up to date with project progress, so that we can cover any absence at a moment’s notice and ensure the project is always covered.
Daily coordination meetings – A daily coordination meeting is held everyday and is attended by supervisors from each company. This is to discuss emerging safety concerns, get updates on work progress, arrange permits and ensure there is no integration of hazards between contractors (see the coordination meeting video – it’s a good ‘un).
Management inspections and audits – We don’t just plonk a contractor onsite and hope for the best. iSAFE’s core team will conduct management audits on the site to ensure standards remain exceptional throughout the project.

About us - iSafe.
You’ve gotten this far, it makes sense to find out more about us.
‘The year is 2016’. Even though it has been almost 15 years since the iPod was released, unimaginative entrepreneurs across the UK still thought it was cool to put an ‘I’ In front of their business name. Meanwhile, two health and safety practitioners (Jack and Tim Marshall), decide that after many years of study and working as HSE professionals, they want to try their hands at setting up a consultancy. The combination of these two factors resulted in iSAFE being established.
When iSAFE was established, we recognised that in general, health and safety practitioners, how do I put this politely … have an image problem!
People think we are expensive, legislation quoting, jobsworth types, who stop people from doing their jobs. So, we aimed to challenge people’s perceptions of what a health and safety consultant is, by establishing our main core value that all of the iSAFE team must follow:
Be the seatbelt, not the speed bump.
One thing about us is that iSAFE’s consultants won’t turn up with a clipboard, spouting legislation, whilst trying to put the fear of god into you. We also won’t leave you with a big invoice and a hat full of problems to solve for yourself.
The iSAFE team pride ourselves on being more approachable than the average health and safety company. We really get to know your business and staff, take the time to learn what you do and how you do it, before providing innovative, practical solutions to your safety issues, which we will help you implement.
Rather than telling you, you can’t do something, we offer a solution for doing it in a safer way that doesn’t break any laws or the bank.
Ultimately, our main core value is there to facilitate our primary goal. To help as many businesses as possible to meet their health and safety legal requirements, whilst reducing the number of accidents within those businesses.
So far, we are achieving this goal and iSAFE has helped (and continues to help) organisations across the UK meet their health and safety requirements.
